Puerto Galera in a Month on FILM

It was during the second season of lockdown in Manila when we have decided to go to Puerto Galera.
It all started from a conversation about diving. Initially, this trip was pre-planned but the location was uncertain at that moment. Claude & I were doing a shoot for PADI, he gave me the lead role and supposedly we should have started shooting by March / April but due to the sudden lockdown we had to keep postponing until we heard about Puerto Galera.
Prior to our trip, a friend of mine I talk to online was able to visit Puerto Galera with specific requirements, this happened even before we thought about the place, and that’s how we got the idea to shoot the scenes in Puerto Galera instead.
The short film Claude is creating for PADI is all about women in diving, so I thought of tagging my best friend Katt, who does scuba diving as well. Everything was pretty abrupt, but we made it!
Here’s a few random film photos from Katt’s film camera from April to May–
What I love about film is that it captures the most spontaneous moments in one snap, you don’t have the option to review the photo taken, it lessens the need to care so much about how you’d look or how the photo will turn out. It teaches you to just let go of the idea of perfection and appreciate the beauty of a moment.
